Happy birthday Ashley!!

One of my fondest memories with you took place in a land far, far away. A place called WINTER WONDERLAND. Winter Wonderland is a magical retreat where time does not exist and food and laughter abound. It was here that Ashley and I truly bonded together as comrades. Das' right, ve talked in aksent ant fell in love wit Gregor, the party animal bear. *Sigh* Many of the things we experienced cannot be put on here, it would be an injustice to Winter Wonderland even trying to describe them.

Putting Wonderland aside and getting to the point I will say this: you are a kind, vibrant and genuine person who's friends are fiercely loyal and loving to you. I always say that people are a reflection of their friends and from what I've seen of yours (as this entire blog is proof of too) you too must be an incredible woman!  HAPPY BIRTHDAY ASHLEY!! Your best years are yet to come.

Some of my favorite memories with you include (but are not limited to) anything that had to do with BYU Men's Volleyball, our California trip, Thanksgiving with your family, laughing until I cried watching Kevin James, living in the ghetto house, being nicknamed the Kiz, cooking big Sunday meals for all our friends, lots and lots of laughing! Happy happy birthday to a very beautiful, talented, fun and spunky woman!  I hope your day is wonderful!

This is the fondest memory I have of us. There's nothing like dancing and singing naked (at a young age of course) after bath time in front of the mirror, that bonds sisters together, like it has for us. We've shared many great memories like this one throughout our lives and you have always been there for me. Like the time we got in a car accident in high school, okay maybe that one wasn't so great.

You have always been the great, dependable and caring older sister anyone could ask for. I am very fortunate to have you in my life. Growing up, you were always an example of how to live life the right way to experience true and lasting happiness. You were and are a role model to Whitney and I, more than you probley know. I admire your ability to be true to yourself and love others so freely and without reserve.

Thanks for opening your home to me when I came to Arizona.I think its been a nice fit living together again. I think it has helped us grow closer together. I have enjoyed creating more memories with you the last 2 years and will enjoy the many more. I always want to live close to you.

I hope you're 30th Birthday is a special one! You are a pretty dang young, healthy and beautiful looking for a 30 year old! I hope to babe like you when its my turn to be 30:) I love you Ashley, thanks for all you continue to do for me.

Ashley is without a doubt one of the most creative and engaging people I know.  I remember reading her weekly emails sent from her mission, convinced of what a valuable tool in the Lord's hands she was, because she was consecrated, converted, exemplary, and genuinely interested in the people she met.  Who could resist her?  She has a terrific sense of humor and quickly puts people at ease.

She has developed her talents and has skills in so many areas.  What a gem of a girl!  I wish her a very happy 30th birthday and a beautiful year ahead.

Dear Dopey,

Happy 30th!!!  Can you believe how old we are getting?  Growing up 30 seemed so old and now I realize how young it is (but still feels a little old right?) This past weekend was Caleb's 12th birthday trip to Conference and I just kept thinking about our trip.  You are so coming with Sydney and me when she turns 12!   No arguments, it just wouldn't be that same without you.   One memory that stick out to me was when we were watching the legacy video, I don't remember why but I remember thinking how glad I was that we were family and that we can all be together forever.  You are a big part of my "Forever" it just wouldn't be the same without you. 

I am so grateful to have you in my life.  I can recall so many happy memories and long talks that just make me smile! Remember that one time your family car broke down (I know they were a few times…like every time we traveled together, your Dad was so funny when it came to cars.  I guess that was the grandpa in him just patch it up and keep on driving:) this time was when we broke down in Cedar City and we spent like all day in Kmart play hide-go-seek and a bunch of silly games:) I also can recall our first EFY or Academy of Girls I think it was called.  That was one of the best weeks ever! I really gained so much of my testimony then.  I know that because you were there and you made me feel so safe.  I don't think I would have had so a great experience without you by my side.

As I think over all our memories I have the best slide show playing in my head.  Us with matching outfits, making up dances, spending the night in the motor home, girls camp, doing anything to get away from Megan, the rope swing by your house, playing Nertz, trips to San Francisco (Peek-a-Boo HA, HA,HA, HA) and no memory is complete without thinking of jet skiing, tube wars, skiing and fun on the lake. You are someone I know I can always count on and just by knowing that you care makes me happy.  I hope you know what a strong women you are.  I know that life has a funny way of teaching us the lessons we need to learn but I have always admired your ability to stay positive and love those around you.

So, I just hope you know how incredible fantastic you are!! I hope that your Birthday is a ton of fun and that you feel completely spoiled and loved!!

Ash-a-lee

One of my earliest memories of Ash was at Grandpa Lamb's we were there for a Thanksgiving feast.  My mom had this story board and we were putting pictures up on the board.  I can remember getting so upset because I was putting up pictures of things that we were thankful for into the cornucopia.  And just as fast as I was putting up pictures she was taking them down.  I would say to you ASH-A-LEE, and of course you were like two and did not really care.  Oh the memories.  We have some good ones, I can only hope that we keep making more.  I just asked Caleb if he remembers who you are and he said yeah isn't that the girl that was doing weird stretches on the houseboat.  (I think that you and your friends were probably doing yoga) We love you and hope that you have a great 30th Birthday.  It only gets better from here.

Hey Ashley <3  I wanted to send a great big happy birthday your way because you are one of the most genuine and phenomenal individuals I have met. I really don't think there  are many girls out there with the spunk, and talent, and love for the world that you always showed in everything you did.  Welcome to your thirties You have now joined me ;)  but its not so bad. 30 and single makes for some pretty awesome adventures. You are settled enough to have money and do what you want. You are mature enough to not get into too much trouble. and because you are not yet married or raising children you are free enough to enjoy it all. THAT IS A PRETTY GOOD FEELING :)  I miss having you around and all the adventures/misadventures we had while you were in Pennsylvania (BEAVER). One thing I think we can both say is that there was NEVER A DULL moment.

I think one of my best moments with you was introducing you to my baby girl, Lucy. I hope that I can raise her to be like you. "Sister Lamb"  LOL It feels so good to be able to call you by a first name, but in some ways you will always be Sister Lamb to me.  Keep enjoying life and touching other people's lives  and don't ever lose that beautiful smile. I know I had a lot of other pictures but this is the only one on my laptop :)

Oh Face-a-rooskie, where do I start? You and I have been friends since that fated day at girl's camp when we were 12 years old. Since then we have been through a lot together. From cross country trips to visit each other to room mates at college. You have been one of my best friends and so many of my favorite memories include you. Like our road trip to California where we forgot how to talk normal, to long boarding down Provo canyon, to our bed time stories. Ashley: A Real Sweetheart

Although I'm on the younger end of the cousin chain, I still have some recent memories which I cherish of you. I didn't know you well, Ash, as a child, but I've loved growing to know you better as an adult.

I remember a time, not too many years ago, that we were visiting your parent's place for a vacay or something. The "grown-ups" were gone, and those of us left at home decided to go to an absolutely delicious ice cream shop. It was in the more ritzy part of town, and we had fun looking around and chatting. It was the first time I could recall getting to really know you better. (My previous immaturity, of course, had kept me from being more interested in the lives of my relatives.) But that night, we had a good time and I felt like I knew you tons better than I had ever known you before. It was like meeting you for the first time, and it obviously meant a lot to me, since I can't even remember who else was there at the time. You really impressed me, and have impressed me ever since by your good works, determination, and adventurous spirit. You genuinely care for others, and it is always more fun to have you around.

I look forward to getting to know you even better in future years, and playing many, many more games with you, too. You are a card shark! Happy 30th, I hope it's leap and bounds above what you expected! Loves!

My "Only In Hawaii" Friend!

Happy Birthday Ashley! I was thinking back on all our fun memories and realized they're ALL in Hawaii. Did you know we've only ever hung out in Hawaii???? That's kind of the coolest thing ever! I still remember the first time. You were so FUN and easy to be around and just meshed right in to Brooklyn and mine's craziness and we all know the "H.I.L.A.R.I.O.U.S." video wouldn't have been the same without you!

One thing I will say about turning 30 is, don't listen to anything everyone is saying. It's not that awesome. I've been 30 for about a week now and it sucks. I swear I'm fatter, more tired, boring and wrinkly than I've ever been in my life! But even all that would be worth going through if it meant I'd been able to enjoy having Brooklyn as a sister for the last 27 years as you have. (just kidding, Ashley)(not really, Brooklyn) Really though - being 30 is awesome! This week has been the best week of my life!  I can't wait to turn 40! Let's do it together - IN HAWAII!!

On a serious note Ashley, you're awesome! Fun, more importantly - funny, kind, thoughtful, real, sincere, smart, caring, and as we can all see from these photos and each time we look at you...you're gorgeous! I hope you have a wonderful birthday knowing both how AMAZING you are and how many people love you.

Wow, where has the time gone? Seems like just yesterday we were at Clayton Valley in Mr. Miller's history class, going to church dances and hanging out on the weekends. I am so lucky to have so many fun memories of you not only in high school but in college as well.  You are one amazing lady and I wish you a very happy 30th birthday, you most definitely deserve it! (It really isn't all that bad....I sure don't feel old anyways!) Thanks for being such a wonderful friend over the years.

THIRTY. Quite LITERALLY the best age, ever!

To my life partner (haha),

Ever heard the saying, “You can pick your friends, and you can pick your nose, but you can’t pick your friends nose”? Well, I think that would be gross…but if I ever needed you to, you would. Because that is the kind of friend you are. The very best kind of friend.

However, may I suggest, you might cover your finger, like so:

I mean, you do still have more finger condoms, right? Anyway, you’re just that great of a friend. (But don’t worry…I’m not asking you to do so.) And, we’re just that close. You know what I mean. I don’t hold back around you…not a bit! I would say we have a pretty open relationship, you and I.

So, I remember swimming in the Mabry’s pool one day (must have been summer of 2009) and you talked to me about maybe moving in with me. We were friends back then, but not like we are now…I had no idea the great friendship that would emerge. I am so blessed to have you in my life. We’ve laughed, cried, danced, sang, eaten, traveled, snoozed…basically, we’ve had all sorts of crazy adventures together. You’ve seen me at pretty much my worst, and craziest, moments.

I went through some of my pictures the other day, trying to decide which ones to post. In the process I created a file to put all the possible photos into…over a 100 and counting. I decided I had to stop there and just pick a few. It’s been rough… Obviously we’ve had some good times. Like the time…

• we were Thing 1& 2
• you danced like the crazy lady at the Tim McGraw concert 
• when you visited me and my family in DC with Kim and you showed up in all GREEN
• 
  
• 

• When we went to San Fran and I missed my flight because I bought it for the wrong day and you prayed with me for it to work out. And it did all work out amazingly well and we got to go to the Jelly Belly factory and you volunteered me to try the skunk spray jelly bean! 

• You got in the water with me at Lake Powell to try to help me wake board
• Or the year before at Lake Powell...canoeing, and no one around...so we jumped in the water...
• When we were driving in your car one night and we both busted into song, “I, I just died in  your arms tonight…” at the exact same time 
• Or when we had an apple war at freestone park...and I attempted to ride your long board
• When we dressed up in 80's leotards and tights and had an awesome dance party in the Juanita house
• Or the time we went to see Whip It and had no idea how hilarious it would be!
• Winter Wonderland Cabin, Montana, Hawaii...

 

…just a smidgen of the great memories we’ve shared.

Thank you for having fun with me. Thank you for listening to me when I’ve had a bad day. Thank you for listening to me when I’ve had a good day, and celebrating the happy moments in life. Thank you for listening to me when I think I’m crazy. Thank you for listening to me and laughing with/or at me when I’m acting crazy (which is kind of a lot, right!? Haha). Thank you for being silly with me. Thank you for making me smile. Thank you for impersonating the Target Lady so well, and for bringing me in to the Kristin Wiig fan club. Thank you for making me laugh. Thank you for letting me borrow your accessories all the time. Thank you for always being kind and sharing and caring. Thank you for creating so many fun memories with me. Thank you for being a great example to me of love and faithfulness in the gospel.

You are creative and fun and determined and super-thoughtful and you have gusto and you are beautiful and hard-working and organized and loving and I could go on an on…but I’ll stop and just say, you are amazing. It is true.

     So happy to be part of this momentous birthday celebration.  Your sisters really love you and are trying so hard to make this a memorable day for you.  I hope it is!!
     You were always a strong-willed and determined little girl, but it has served you well as an adult.  As you have learned to align your will with the Lord's, he has blessed you tremendously.  You seem to be at a really good place in your life, at peace with yourself and yet always moving forward.  I am sure there are many wonderful surprises ahead in life--there always are.  Enjoy them and learn from them, that is all the Lord wants from us.  We are here to experience all that mortality has to offer.....so have joy in the journey (that sounds like EFY for sure!)

Happy Birthday! From Geoff Lamb

Now if I don't remember the details exactly as they happened you'll have to excuse me...but who cares really anyway?  We were like 9 and 5 years old at the time.

So Ashley's down visiting from L.A. and--acting like the kids we are--get really wound up playing around the house.  So much so that Ashley and Becky start pointing at cars going down the street and yelling in tandem "Stop, in the name of Love!" together with all attendant motions à la The Supremes.

This goes on for quite a while before the girls decide to take it outside and down the street where Ashley confronts a neighbor boy and starts up with the "Stop" routine once again, after which she makes an effort to kiss him, with mixed results.  I think everyone found it hilarious more than anything.  This did not in any way deter Ashley from repeated efforts, however.  Although in fairness to her now, I don't think she's quite the brazen hussy she once aspired to be.

Yet I can't help but think of that experience every time that song is played:  Ashley with her attendants up there in the windowsill singing at the top of their lungs, "Stop, in the name of love before you break my heart!"  Never shy; always bold.  That's Ash for you.

Have you ever noticed that EVERYONE around ASHLEY is always smiling??

Ok, Dax... not so good as smiling... but he was happy, promise!

Ashley's UNIQUE SENSE OF STYLE,  CONFIDENCE,  and SHAMELESS DESIRE FOR SILLINESS...  empower me to be the best Kristin. She is quick to show FRIENDSHIP,  GRATITUDE, as well as FORGIVENESS.

Happy Birthday Ashley!

I've honestly been procrastinating writing you a birthday message on this blog because it is just a bit overwhelming to sum up how much you mean to me, all our memories, and my love and appreciation for you. There is just SO SO much I have in my heart and I fear that I won't be able to express it well enough for you read, but I'll try. 

1) I LOVE that when we're together and I introduce you as my sister and everyone believes me and doesn't even second guess me! You ARE my sister, truly!

2) You are my dress up doll! I love to put you in my clothes so that I can see what I look like! You are always so willing to put on whatever I hand you when we go shopping and you just ROCK IT…. well except for those parachute pants I had you try on and you danced around all goobery in the dressing room. HAHA! The other women thought you were so weird! I love you!!

3) I Love you so much I had to marry a man version of you! Since we worked so well together we'd always say "I'm gonna marry a man version of you!" Well I got my man, but I'm not sure you should marry a man version of me because I'm the crazy one and I think it's easier to be with a crazy woman than a crazy man but I could be wrong.

4)You have seen my worst of worsts and still love me and you've trusted me to see and know yours as well. It means A LOT when you can feel safe with someone.

5) You are the ONLY person that has slapped me in the face and lived to tell of it! That has to show how much I love you…Well I guess you're the only one that has ever done it…. BUT DON'T THINK YOU'D GET OFF SO EASY IF YOU DID IT AGAIN! I'm not on the mission anymore :)

Well that's all I got for now but I hope at least this message has made you smile. Ashley Marie Lamb I love you SO SO much and it's been such a blessing to have you in my life and I only hope I can serve, uplift, love, understand, care, work, and be as amazing as you are!!
