Ashley Rocks!

Hey Ash!  HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BEAUTIFUL LADY!  And welcome to the 30's!  It's a wonderful club to be in and you're in good company here. :)

I had fun reminiscing about memories of you from growing up.  We've had good times from covering ourselves with mud at Lake Powell all the way to meeting up for chats at BYU.  But the very first memory that popped into my head is probably one that Geoff and possibly Peter will also share, but in case they don't I just have to share it.  We were living in our home in Chula Vista in San Diego, CA.  I was probably 8 so you must've been 5 or so.  We had a great big bedroom upstairs that the boys all shared with tall windows that faced the street.  You were visiting us and for some reason I think it was only you, not your parents or sisters.  (They must've been threatening to sell you to the gypsies and my parents took pity on you and took you in instead until they cooled off.  Just kidding!)  Anyway, I have a vivid memory of standing in those windows and singing at the top of our voices "Stop in the name of love before you break my heart! (think it oh-oh-ver)."  We sang that over and over and every time we said "Stop" we'd throw our hand out in front of us and then shake it along with our hips.  We rocked!

I also remember that on that trip you developed a crush on one of our neighbors and spent a lot of time trying to follow him around, much to his embarrassment.  I'm sure he was totally flattered but was trying to save face with his guy friends who thought girls had cooties.

Your mom forwarded your missionary emails onto me each week while you were on your mission and I read them religiously.  I was so impressed with your faith and it was completely obvious that you were a very effective tool in the Lord's hands to reach people who were searching for truth.  It was easy to tell that you were loved by so many there just as you were at home and I was very proud to share the title Sister Lamb with you.

I hope that you know how your example continues to influence all who meet and know you, even if you're not even aware of it.  I love you very much and am so grateful to be your cousin and friend.  I hope your birthday is as amazing as you are and that you feel very loved on it and throughout the year and decade.  I love you, Ashley!

Love,

Becky Lamb Jensen
