As I’ve been thinking of memorable
moments to write about you in this blog for some reason the first thing that
came to my mind was that time when I was 6 and you were 12 and I thought it
would be the funniest thing if we switched clothes! I was just looking at that
photo and it IS still the funniest thing! It’s a little inappropriate
to show on this blog though, so I’ll spare you ;)
Mom and I just finished looking through old photos going
down memory lane of some of our favorite moments growing up. I kept saying to
her, “hey, you remember that time…?”.
The following are a few of the memories that were made fresh in my mind.
Hey, do you remember that time dad drove over your foot
during our Sunday morning paper route? …and then he kicked it
into reverse and ran over your leg a second time just for good measure?
Do you remember when you wore your headgear everywhere…and
I mean everywhere?
Do you remember all the fun times we would have with the
Kerrs?
Do you remember grandma and grandpa always making matching
clothes for us? I remember mom would make us wear these coats to church and the
Kerrs would tease us by calling us the rich ladies!
Do you remember when you saw the Titanic for the first time
and the next morning you told Brooklyn and I a play-by-play of the movie that
took 2 hours!
Do you remember when we would blast Amy Grant and Gloria
Estefan in the family room and dance around?
Do you remember the primary activities where we’d
decorate cardboard boxes as cars and have a drive-in at the church? I remember
going to my first one and you helped me decorate my car. What a great big
sister you were (and are). I always looked up to you.
Do you remember the fun fun park?
One of the greatest memories I have is the trip we took to
Ireland. Do you remember that creepy museum we visited? That was great to have
some great one-on-one time together. I’ve realized how it’s
been 12 years since all three of us sister have lived under the same roof, and
how we haven’t had much one-on-one time
together, but I’m so excited for this summer when
we’ll all be reunited again, even if it’s
for a short time. I’m excited for the many more
memories we’ll make together.
Ashley, what a wonderful life you have had. You have been
able to do so much and experience so much in your 30 years of life. We have all
been blessed to have you in our lives. You have been a great example of faith,
virtue, determination, beauty, knowledge, service, love, loyalty, humor, and
many other talents and strengths.
You're the greatest (oldest) sister I could ask for, I love you!
